MOTIVATIONAL • TIP || one of the best ways to stay motivated in your training is to continuously include exercises that really challenge you. If you always do what you've always done, you'll never see an improvement. We have to be ok with a bit of failure and humility – it adds an element of excitement and raises the stakes! While the prospect of 'looking good' may get you motivated to begin training, its the challenge of the workout that will KEEP you motivated (so that you don't fall off the wagon and have to do it all over again next summer). Those of you just starting my 28 day programme – you might feel silly sometimes and you WILL feel challenged and pushed outside of your comfort zone – but hey, guess what? That's where all the magic and transformational stuff happens – when you feel confronted with failure and fear but choose to do it anyway. This is me somewhat failing at my rope climb, with @lukewtraining trying to motivate me further at my favourite Australian gym @liftperformancecentre – I miss that place! #vertuemethod #vertueliving #VM28dayreset Ps. MY ABS WERE CRAMPING. Such an amazing abdominal exercise.

Allenarsi con lei

BIRD DOG || Have you seen this exercise before? You've probably seen the first variation I do, back bending, swinging and moving unconsciously – it's very common and much easier but unfortunately it kind of negates the benefits of executing this strangely named exercise. By performing this one with a band as I do in the second variation you facilitate better glute activation, you will feel your core have to stabilise against the resistance and you will feel your lower trapezius (key shoulder stabiliser) also switch on against the resistance. I talk you through this in my live warm up video on my Facebook page (Facebook.com/vertuemethod Let me know how you go with it! it has nothing to do with Ave Maria or Schubert (who was 28 when he composed this – epic!) I just think it's beautiful. #vertuemethod #vertueliving Mat from @yogaeverywhere_au
